Decorating the TREE.....

Can't believe it's that time of year again. We are so excited. Emma is at such a fun age that she could not wait to decorate the tree. (of course, Rich and I could not either) So, we have all the decorations out. (out meaning on the floor downstairs) We have the tree up and decorated! Emma cried when we were done decorating the tree. She just didn't understand. Sweet little love. I hope she is always this excited. Hopefully tomorrow, we will be able to decorate more...more pics to come.. hanging her DORA ornaments on the tree. They are for her room, but she wants them on the big tree...
loving helping mom with the tree...

the Elf is here....

Every year, our Elf comes to our house. This is actually the 2nd yr that we have done this and I think it has become a Christmas tradition at our house. We never know when she will arrive. This year she came on Sunday night. The elf's responsibility is to watch the children's behavior and report it to Santa each night. The next morning, when the children wake up, they discover that the elf has returned from the North Pole (with parental assistance) and is hiding in a different place. This is Emma's favorite thing to do in the mornings. She had to search the house over to find the elf. This year, our Elf's name is LUCY. There are some rules with Lucy: She can't be touched, but you can talk to her. Lucy cannot talk back, but is always watching. Now when Emma is acting up or out of control, I give her a gentle reminder that Lucy is watching and she immediately says, "sorry." Soo sweet. She is soo amazed that Lucy is at our house and on the shelf. She stares at her all day and tells her all kinds of things. Sometimes, I will walk in the den and she is telling her what she wants for Christmas. Love this. See from the pics below that Emma is soo happy and excited. after reading the book....

I love this picture. Emma just sat on the coffee table and stared at her....

My big boy ate in his high chair for the first time this week. It was Emma's, and I don't think we used it very much with her because she did not eat baby food too well. McCool, on the otherhand, loves to EAT...and laugh and smile.....we cannot get enough of his sweet kisses and love!!!

Friday, November 21st, Emma had her K3 Thanksgiving party. She was so excited. I was happy that I was able to go. Dad stayed at home with McCool. Crafts was first on the list. They made a placemat, which was too cute. Ms. Cary predicted that Emma would not get up from the table until her was PERFECT. Hate to say it, but she was right. Such a sweet girl. 4th day...our last day...Animal Kingdom...

Emma still had fever this morning and we had planned on letting her sleep late and just taking it easy. However, she woke up early and wanted to go eat with Mickey and Donald. So, we started out with breakfast at the Tusker House in Animal Kingdom with Donald, Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, and Goofy. It was lots of fun, and the food was good. Everytime one of the characters was about to come to our table, she would say that she was going to tell them she had a "throat." So sad. She did eat really good. They had Mickey Mouse Waffles and she loved that. After breakfast, we took a walk through the Pangani Forest which was really cool. Went to see Nemo the Musical, which was absolutely amazing. We then went on an awesome safari ride. Emma had binoculars and she thought that was wonderful. While Emma ate ice cream, Rich and I rode Expedition Everest...THE BOMB ride. It was really scary, but fun! Emma wanted to ride the Tricera Top Spin next. After that, we ate lunch at Restaurantosaurus and then went to the room to let the kids nap and start packing. We accomplished a lot. (thank goodness since we had a LONG night) After packing and washing, we decided to go back to Magic Kingdom for dinner and to ride Dumbo again. After riding Dumbo, Emma was ready to get in the stroller and sleep. I tried to get her up to ride the carousel and she said she wanted to sleep. So, after a little shopping, we decided that we needed to get this girl home and to bed. WE skipped out on the SpectroMagic parade so that we could beat the traffic and long lines at the bus. So glad that we did. While standing in line for the bus, Emma started vomiting. By the time the bus got there, she was ok to ride. Rich and I had already decided that we needed to take her somewhere because she was looking so weak. She slept the entire time on the bus. I could tell that her fever was rising. The bus driver knew of a place that we could take her called Urgent Care. They had someone pick us up from our hotel within the next 10 minutes. At this point, Emma could not walk. She was pale, fever was high, and she was soo weak. Rich and I started to panic. When we got to the hospital, we realized it WAS NOT A HOSPITAL. It was an Urgent Care Clinic. The wait was 90 minutes from the time you sign in. So, i get the paperwork and she tells me that they don't take our insurance and they could not bill us because they were not a hospital. UGGHHH. Rich came up and said , "look, we will pay whatever it is, we have a sick child." Finally, we still had not been seen. Rich had to go to the front and pretty much tell them we needed to be seen now. At this point, I am wanting to leave and find an ER. So, they take us back and out us in a room. They put wet towels on her trying to get her fever down. I started to break down. Rich started to break down. It's so hard to see your precious children like this. Well, Emma heard me cyring. She never opened her eyes, but she said, "Mom, don't cry, I'm ok." Well, i lost it even more. I can't even type this without tears coming down my face. Rich and I then started to think why didn't we do this sooner, we let her ride Dumbo and she was this sick, etc...We just started blaming ourselves. Ok so the nurse never comes back in the room. Rich goes to look for her. While he was gone, Emma started vomiting on the table. Well, I didn't know if she was having a seizure due to the high fever or just vomiting. I started screaming. All the nurses came running in and was like, the Dr. will be here in just a minute. They really made me mad. And me, being a nurse, i know what it's like, but come on. They said he was taking out sutures. Does that sound URGENT to you? I was not happy. Well, he finally comes in. Determines that she has strep throat. I was worried about dehydration since she would not eat or drink anything. So, she gets a Bicillin shot and a phenergan shot. We asked for some Motrin and when she was about to take it, she starts to vomit again. So, they have Tylenol suppositories, which we had never heard of. YAY for that. That did help get the fever down. We then head back to our room. Emma is still vomiting. Since we were at an Urgent Care Center, they could not do IV's. i will never choose that route again. We had a restless night. I don't think anyone slept. The next morning we are suppose to leave at 10 to get on our bus for the airport. Emma is still sick. We had to call the clinic and get them to bring a phen suppository to our room. Well, the bus that brings the medicine does not start until 930. Anyways, we got the medicine (which is suppose to go in the fridge) and headed for a 30minute drive to the airport. I was then able to give her the medicine! She got really sleepy and was albe to drink Apple Juice. YAY for that. I could tell she was on the uphill, she was just tired. We were all tired! What an amazing trip we had. Emma has not been sick in over a year and we could not believe that she got sick on our trip. But things happen. Definately taught us many things. We realized just how precious our children are, made us want to be more patient with them because they are so precious, and we learned that we didn't have to go to Disney World see a princess~ we see one everyday because we live with her. Her name is EMMA. Rich and I are already planning our next trip. We can't WAIt.....
